Family

So lately, I think because it was just Shaylee Linnea's, my neice and goddaughter, birthday, I've been thinking about family alot. I've built quite the little adopted family here in the Quad Cities. I love the people that I've met and all the wonderful friends that I've made. It's strange isn't it? How we build these communities of family for ourselves no matter where we are. Crazy!

But nothing can replace the family that God gives you. Luckily, even though I'm far away from them, there are places like Blogger and Facebook, and pictures and things so that I can be kept up to date on the goings on in the lives of those I love.

So like a month ago, my brother and sister-in-law sent me pictures of them and my beautiful neice Shaylee. So naturally the first thing I did was to take them to work and put them up on the wall of my cubicle. Actually I put them on the front of one of the cabinets in my cubicle. It has been so fun to have these pictures to show off. And of course the first thing anyone asks about the pictures is always, "Who is that beautiful little girl?" It is so much fun getting to reply, "That is my neice, Shaylee!" So now I just have to get more pictures, probably ones I can print from my computer to put up of other family members so that I can show everyone off. So yeah. Fun times!

Happy Belated Birthday Shaylee! There will be a card coming from your Aunt Sara very soon! Love you all tons!

New Goals

Hello everyone! I realize it's been a long while since the last time I posted. Luckily I am feeling better. And I kinda have a pretty good reason why.

Last week Judy, my fellow scheduler, came up with the idea for the two of us to join the YMCA together. This way we could both get healthy. I've been looking for a way and the motivation to get myself healthy and lose some weight. Cause I'm done being unhappy with the way I look. So when Judy suggested us working out together at the Y I was all for it. We're into our second week now. So hopefully we can keep it going long enough that it becomes habit. I think it is good that we joined together. Number 1 it's more fun to work out with someone else. And we're more likely to keep going because we have someone else depending on us to be there.

So for the first week we just did Cardio. You know walking, swimming. Then yesterday I learned how to use the resistance band weight machines. These are good because they are less strenuous on my knee. So that's exciting. Although you get even more sore with the whole strength training concept, but it helps you get more muscle tone and a faster metabolism faster. So that's good all in all too.

Now I'm just in this to get skinny. While losing weight will be nice and hopefully help me to feel better about myself, that's not the only goal. I want to be healthier in general. And I know that losing weight is a part of that. So to the exercise, and the attempts to eat healthier. I've tried to cut down on my unhealthy food eating and I'm also working on the whole drinking pop concept. I'm actually getting better at both of those I think. So yeah. Think good thoughts for me. Blessings to you all!

That's Life

I hate not feeling well. Especially if I can't tell if the not feeling well is simply coming from a Hypoglycemic episode, or from actually not feeling well. I woke up today and didn't feel well, but also didn't really feel like eating. My eating patterns have actually been really good lately. And I'm working on being healthier as well, which is big plus. But today when I woke up I was hot, and sick to my stomach. So now I'm at work and I'm still boiling and kinda sick to my stomach, but food still doesn't feel good. No fun at all. So yeah, we'll just have to see if anything manifests from here.

In other areas, Aesop's is now over. The show went incredibly well. I was very pleased with how the kids did. It all came together in the end. Ah the magic of theatre!! So now I'm done working on shows for now at Junior Theatre. Although I did tell Daniel, the artistic director, to give me a call if they ever need help. So hopefully he will. So I've now jumped into doing costumes for The Children's Hour at Playcrafter's. Luckily most of the costumes we were able to pull from the stock of costumes at Playcrafter's as well as borrowing a few items from Music Guild. I'm actually going to be (hopefully) borrowing some stuff from Junior Theatre for the girls in the show. So the only real sewing I'll need to do for them is to hem up some of the skirts and fix some fasteners and change out buttons and the like. So that's exciting. I have until next Monday to get all that done. So it's good that I don't have too much to do. So that's what's going on there.

Other than that things are good. I'm loving life and moving along. So yeah. I think that's it for now. Blessings on all who read this!

Aesop's is coming, Aesop's is coming!

Man does time fly! I feel like I'm doing so well at keeping everyone up to date and then things start happening super fast and all of a sudden it's been like 2 whole weeks since the last time I posted! Good Grief!

So what is keeping me so busy you might ask? Well, of course there is always work. Judy and I (the other scheduler) have worked out a new routine of who is on 1st phone. And we started doing that this week. It's actually working out really well. I think it will be good because this way we won't get super tired of being one or the other cause we're switching off by the day instead of by the week. So that's good.

The hotel life is good too. I really enjoy working the weekend night shift. While I am often very tired and it kinda throws off my sleeping patterns some I don't mind it too much. Mainly because I enjoy the guests who stay at the hotel, for the most part, and I really love all the people I work with. So that's a bonus. All-in-all things in the work world are all good.

So the rest of my time is devoted to Theatre! At least right now. We are entering Hell Week for "Aesop's Falables". And while it's exciting it's also a little nerve-wracking. But both Mike, the director, and I agree that we've definitely got a show on our hands. The kids had an amazing run through on Thursday night. So that's exciting. And tomorrow we get to add all the lights and sound, so I can't wait to see how that works out. I also got to help build part of the set and paint some of it as well! So that's always fun, but it meant a couple late nights for me this week. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on all this sleep soon!

So yeah...that's what's up in the land of the Sara. I hope that you all have a blessed Easter! God Bless!

Hanging At Home!

So the nice thing about not having as many dance numbers in "Aesop's Falables" is that I don't have to be present at as many of the rehearsals. So it's giving me the chance to just hang out at home. And while too much of this will pretty soon be boring to me I'm enjoying it right now. Just a few minutes ago...they've both moved unfortunately...I was sitting on my bed with both of my animals. For a while now Oreo had decided that she wasn't very happy with me. But lately she's been spending more time with me. She'll come and sit in my lap and hang out with me and Blossom when we're sitting and watching tv. So I had both my animals just hanging out. It was nice.

Today I went to the Chiropractor! I've been going pretty regularly lately. It's great! I'm finally starting to feel better. And the cool thing is that they're also working on getting my knees to hurt less and stuff. My knee went out about 3 weeks ago and they've been adjusting it ever since. And I sprained my ankle like 4 weeks ago and they've been adjusting that too. And amazingly they feel a ton better. It's crazy! I've never had my knees adjusted before even though I've been to other Chiros. It's insane. So hopefully it will continue to move in an upward motion. I like not being in pain constantly. Yay!

Ummm. I'm trying to think of anything else to say. But unfortunately I can't think of anything. That's all for now. I have rehearsal tomorrow night. So maybe I'll come up with something new to write then! I hope anyone who reads this has a great day!

Yet Another Overdue Update

So....I totally fail at this whole keeping in touch, giving updates thing. But honestly...I feel like there's never really anything to update about. I kinda hit these moments of things happening and then I talk about them, and then that's it. Back to the monotony of Sara's life.

Anyway...Got some sad news in an e-mail from Mills today. Shirley Weishaar, the old Dean of Students died today. She was there my freshman and Sophomore years. I got to know her from working in the Office of Student Life. She was a great woman, incredibly kind and very inspiring. So very sad to hear that she died.

Ummm.... Oh! Good News! I found my camera! This super exciting cause now I can take more pictures of my animals and my life! So that's fun. So I think for the rest of this post I'm gonna post some pics that I've been meaning to put on here. So get ready! Cause here we go!

So I don't remember if I told everyone about this. But at Christmas we did Secret Santa at Rad Group. Like the Tuesday of the next week I got to work to find these flowers on my desk! All they said were "To Sara". Come to find out that they woman who I gave gifts to, had gotten like 3 bouquets of roses from her children and wanted to give some away. And she thought of me as a thank you for the gifts that I had gotten her. So here they are.
Here's a shot from above them. Aren't they pretty? You can kinda see my foot in the bottom right corner of this one. I put these on the floor of the kitchen in order to get them nicely. Yay!
So here's one of my favorite pictures of my puppy dog Blossom! This is while I was getting ready to go to my cousin's wedding in November. As you can see she's laying on my Anne of Green Gable's Sweatshirt that I then promptly forgot to take with me. Thanks Blossom!

Ok. Last for now is a picture of both of my animals. One of the seldom occurances where they are both willing to hang out near each other without tormenting each other. Oreo might be in the process of stretching. I'm not really sure when this was taken. But it's another one of my favorite pictures.

All right. That's all for now. I'll try to get better at posting more stuff. And hopefully I'll have more pictures to share later! Have a wonderful day!

Wait...Didn't I Just Do This?

So I'm still working on recovering from my last busy weekend. And here I am facing yet another busy weekend. Tonight I have work. Which is where I am right now. Then I get to go home and sleep. Then I have dance rehearsal for 3 hours to hopefully work on all the dances that still need a little bit of help. Although I do have to say that the kids are doing an awesome job! I'm very happy and impressed with all of them. It's been tons of fun working with them and being able to watch them grow and put together the show. This weekend will be the last time that we have strictly a "Dance" rehearsal. From Sunday on we will just be running things with acting, singing and dancing all together. So yeah. Should be fun times tomorrow. So then I'm meeting with my friend Gail to have our dinner that we weren't able to have last week. So that will be fun. Then I get to work again tomorrow night! Yay!

Sunday I'll have a short dance rehearsal with Snoopy herself since I'm not working with her on her solo dances at all tomorrow. So I'll meet with her for an hour and then we have rehearsal with everyone else. More fun times! Then I'm off Sunday night. I don't have any plans as of yet, but that could always change with my crazy life right now.

So fun news! I went into the unior Theatre office on I think Wednesday and Daniel, who's kinda in charge of producing all the shows and has another more official job title that I can never really remember, says "Hey! I have a question for you." And I respond "I have an answer for you." "How would you like to choreograph for the next show 'Aesop's Falables'?" "Umm...Yeah! I'd love to!" "Cool! I'll let the director know." "Ok!" So yeah, I'm already lined up to choreograph for the next show at Junior Theatre! Yay! Apparently they like what they see with Snoopy! That's always a comforting thing to know. So yeah, that's all in Sara-land for now. I hope you are all doing well!

Busy Weekend

I feel kinda bad that I don't update too often. However, I've realized why I wait so long between posts. During the week when I'm at my day job I sit in front of a computer all day and answer phones and things. So by the time I get home I'm kinda done looking at a computer for any reason. So it's hard to even sit down and read blogs or write my own. But I'm hoping to get better about it.

On the nights that I work at the hotel, number one, I'm allowed on the internet, so I'm able to read and stuff while at work, when I need to be looking at a computer screen anyway. And 2 I have the time and need something to do to help keep me awake. Blogging is definitely something that helps me stay awake. So that is the time that I tend to write blogs and catch up on everyone else's lives.

So here I am, standing behind the desk at work. This was kind of a hectic weekend. The nice thing was that on Saturday I got to go to the Chiropractor!!! Yay! I've been needing to get my back and neck adjusted for a long time now. So I'm super excited and much more comfortable now that I was able to go and do that. Then I had rehearsal. Actually between my Chiropractor appt and rehearsal I took myself out to breakfast and while I ate I did some more choreographing. I felt kinda bad for my waitress cause I had a headphone in one ear and she felt like she was interrupting everytime she walked by. Which she wasn't, but I could tell she felt bad everytime. Poor thing.

So yeah, then came rehearsal which went really well. All the dances are starting to really come together and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. So that's exciting. And the numbers I worked on this weekend are the last ones that we really needed hard core dancing for. So that's good. I also had rehearsal today, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

I worked at the hotel last night, which is always fun. But I discovered after sleeping some that I might have overdone it a little at rehearsal. I was very, very sore. It's been a while since I full out danced like that. And I didn't really take the time to stretch or anything. So bad on my part. I did better today and remembered to kinda stretch out some before jumping into it. So I hopefully won't be too sore. So yeah, after rehearsal today I went over to my friend Gail's house for a while. It was nice because I hadn't seen Gail in a while. We also have plans to have dinner next weekend. So we get the chance to just talk to eachother. Cause tonight we were with her family, which was also fun, don't get me wrong. I love hanging out with her family, but it will also be nice to just get the chance to talk. And as I said before I am now back at work.

So yeah, amazing weekend, but definitely busy. I'll be so excited when I get to back to sleep finally on Monday. I hope everyone is well! Have a great week!

The Wedding and Other Info

Now I would have some pictures to show you all of the chapel however I have somehow lost my camera. It is somewhere in my apartment, but for the life of me I am unable to remember or find where exactly that place is. However, eventually I will be able to get pictures from Greg, my boyfriend since we used his camera to take pictures. But for right now unfortunately, I'll just have to tell you all about it.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful. Yeah, that's pretty much all I can say. It was beautiful. And very meaningful. They had lots of friends and family involved and it was just obviously very meaningful to them, which was nice.

So I know I said I was very nervous. Well, really, I shouldn't have worried. I got along just fine with all of Greg's friends. I still haven't heard their verdict of me, but I'm hoping that they liked me too. But we all had a pretty good time. The reception was in the reception area of the Figge Art Museum. Ha! I just noticed that I used the word reception twice in the last sentence. I hope I didn't confuse you! But yeah, so it was also incredibly beautiful. There was a very delicious buffet and an open bar. It was very, very nice and tons of fun. There was lots of dancing and merriment to be had. So yeah, fun times. Ummm. I'm not really sure what else to say about that.

So now for the "other info". My mother has requested information about how I met my boyfriend. Cause I kinda sprung that information on her. Greg and I met at Playcrafter's when we were doing "Promises, Promises". And we just kinda hit it off. So we started hanging out every so often. We both went to plays together and went to shows that we were each in, or working on. We found that we really get along well and are very comfortable with each other, which is nice. So this last Tuesday, Greg officially asked me out and I of course said yes. So that's our story so far.

Ok, that's all for now. I hope everyone is doing well who reads this. Thankfully the weather warmed up this weekend. So we're now sitting comfortably in the 20s which feels incredibly warm after our like 40 below 0 wind chills last week. And as I type it is lightly snowing, yet again. God Bless!

An Overdue Update

Really there isn't that much to update. The only new thing that's really going on in my life right now is the fact that I am choreographing for the Davenport Junior Theatre's production of "Snoopy". It's actually been tons of fun coming up with dances and teaching them to the kids in the show. Although I do have to say that I'm still having issues with the last song of the show. I really don't want it to be too cheesy, but I'm afraid that it might turn out that way because what I have in mind is kinda cheesy. So that's very, very frustrating. But other than that song everything looks really good so far. I'm really proud of the kids. They are picking everything up really well and it's looking really good. At least from a dance perspective, since that's my area of focus.

Other than that I'm still working at both jobs and still enjoying them very much. Which is good. My animals haven't been doing anything too crazy lately, so nothing to report on that end either.

Tomorrow, or today rather I get to attend a wedding at Augustana. I've not been to the Augustana chapel, but I've heard that it is a very, very pretty chapel. So that's kind of exciting. Although I am a little nervous because I actually don't really know anyone who's going to be at the wedding. My boyfriend is in the wedding and they are all friends of his from college. So we'll see how it goes. Hopefully everyone will be so focused on the couple getting married that I can be kinda inconspicuous. We'll see though. I'll have to let you all know how it goes.

So yeah, that's all for now. I hope everyone reading this is in a warmer place than the Midwest right now. Our temperature is supposed to go up though, so hopefully it will stay above 0.

The Places We Go

So this weekend I was off from work. It has been so nice. While I was able to find things to do to fill each day it was nice to have the chance to just do stuff on the weekend without being on a time schedule and realizing that I should really be sleeping.

Saturday we had auditions for Snoopy at the Junior Theatre. For those of you who don't know I was asked to be the choreographer for Snoopy. I'm super excited because number 1 it's with Junior Theatre, which is how I got started in theatre, and number 2 "Snoopy" is one of the shows that I did growing up. So that's very, very awesome. Although it is a little nerve-racking to be choreographing again. But I'm sure it will turn out well.

So that took up most of my day on Saturday, but it was a ton of fun and we got the show casted and I had a good time running the dance part of the auditions. So yay! Then today I was able to go to church this morning which was nice. Then I went out to lunch with my friend Gail who I haven't been able to hook up with recently since we are both on very different and awkward schedules. So that was nice. I'm actually writing this blog while sitting at her house cause I'm keeping her company while she cleans her house. I brought Blossom with me and Gail's son clipped Blossom's nails for me! It was good cause her nails were getting kinda long. He also clipped all of their dog's nails. So yay! And this way Gail got to see Blossom again and Blossom got to hang out with all the dogs at Gail's house, although they weren't really into hanging out together. I guess they all kinda forgot each other. But I think she had fun anyway. Plus it just kinda got her out of the house.

So yeah. It was nice to have an actual weekend. Although next week I get to go back to working all weekend. Which will be nice to get back to a routine as well. So good things both ways. But yeah, that's what's going on with me right now. Cheers!

My Sewing Project

So today I got back to work on sewing finally. I didn't quite get as much done as I would have liked, but I did get a good start going. I'll hopefully be sufficiently motivated to get more work done and finish some of the projects that I've been working on. Like poor Gail's pajamas. We'll see how it goes.

But while I was sewing I decided to take a couple pictures to show my work area and the progress I've made on the dress. Here goes!

So here is the Dining Area table. Which is where my sewing machine sits. You can also see my sewing box on the chair in the fore and the trash can from my room which I use for lose threads and the like. You can also see my laptop in the back of the picture. That way I had some entertainment while I was working.

Here is a shot of the body of the dress which is mostly done. All I need to do are put on the sleeves, put in the zipper/hook and eye, and hem it. You can't really tell, but it's a dark green color with a black lining. Yay!

Here's a shot of just the bodice of the dress which is sitting on the Ironing board. Which as you can see in the picture above I moved onto the Dining Area table as well. Unfortunately with and apartment its hard to find a dedicated place for sewing.

And last but not least are the sleeves. I still need to put the bands on them and then attach them to the body, but they are all put together and basted. So that's where I'm at. Once the dress is done I'll for sure take a picture of it, and can maybe convince Sam to model it for me. Have a wonderful day!

Man It's Been Awhile

So I really need to stop saying that I'm going to update more often. Because every time I say that then I don't update for a really long time. Although in my defense I really don't have that much happening in my life. So I don't feel like I have that much to write about that anyone would be interested in. Honest. I'm kinda boring.

Anyway, we had our first real snow of the season this week and my mother has asked me to post pictures of it. So here are some views around my apartment building. My cousins Elizabeth and Paul posted about having to shovel snow from their driveway after the storm went through Colorado. Luckily I don't have to do that because I live in an apartment building, so they take care of that for me.

This is a shot across our parking lot to the houses that are just behind us.

And here is the view jsut to the right of that. I think that's my car in the lower left hand corner. Isn't it cute?
And here's the back of the building. You can see the little patio area that people use for bar-b-ques when the weather is nicer.
To the left of our back door is the bird feeder all covered with snow as well.
This shot is through the trees behind our building and down the hill. Those houses are across the street diagonally from our little hill. The street that you see is 12th Ave. I turn left there in order to go to work every day.

So there are some shots of the snow. I'll have to put up some more pictures from life in the Quad Cities as soon as I get them. Unfortunatley I'm not as good at taking pictures as my mother is. But I've got some good ones of my animals that I'll have to put up eventually.

Other than that things are moving along as always. My Thanksgiving was great. I went to the house of a family that has adopted me since I first moved here. They go to my church. We had an amazing meal cooked by the father of the family. I played quite a bit of air hockey, watched "Sleeping Beauty" which I hadn't seen in a long time and played cards. It was a great holiday.

I did audition for the Mouse Trap at Playcrafter's which is the next show they are doing, but was not lucky enough to get a part. So now I'm just sort of waiting until auditions come around for the next set of shows. I do know that auditions for Music Guild are in February. So I'm attempting to figure out what I want to sing for that. I'm thinking maybe something from "Anything Goes" since that would match my vocal range a little better. However I do not have the score from that, which I will need to audition...(hint, hint parents...that's a Christmas present idea for you). :). So we'll see what happens.

Ok, I think that's all for now. I hope you all enjoyed reading and please feel free to leave comments!

Wait....Snow?

Yes folks, that's right. We've got snow. Hopefully it won't be too much and won't really stick, but it is for sure coming out of the sky. Yuck. We were hoping that winter would hold off a little longer this year since last year's was so bad. Oh well. I guess you can't win them all. But who knows it could warm up again right after this. Craziness though.

So today I got to be my 6th role in Anne of Green Gables. It's actually kinda fun to be able to help out with the rehearsal process. Plus it gets me back in the theatre a little more. Although I do have to say that it's kinda weird to get thrown into a scene when you have no idea what's going on. But unlike the show "An Actor's Nightmare" I have a script, and it's not in the middle of an actual performance. So that's good at least. Tomorrow night I will be reading, but not actually standing in for my 7th part in the show. So we'll see how that goes. Should be fun. Ok. I think that's all. Short one today.

Good Grief

I keep thinking that I'm going be so good at keeping people updated on my life and then time goes by and I realize it's been like 2 weeks since the last time I updated. I guess I just feel like things in my life don't really change, so I feel like I don't have that much to talk about. Which in a way is kinda sad. Oh well.

I have now been a Radiology Group employee for 2 weeks. Things are going pretty well. I'm picking up the scheduling stuff at a pretty decent pace. Luckily all the techs are very willing to answer any questions I have. Although this week, my fellow scheduler Judy is going on vacation, so we'll see how I do on my own back there. In terms of the digitizing we keep thinking that it's going to get less. And most days there are less films to digitize, but then we'll get a day that all of a sudden has a ton to do. So it's hard to really determine when it's going to slow down. But luckily I have the help of the techs with this as well. So that's neat.

Lately I've been working three nights at the Courtyard. I realized that it's actually not too bad to do Fri, Sat, and Sunday nights. It's much easier to do it that way then to do Thurs, Fri, Sat. Makes my sleeping pattern a little bit easier. I honestly don't mind working three nights at the Courtyard after my full week at Radiology Group. I do have my days where I'm very tired, but for the most part things are going rather well. Now I just have to get around to also doing some fulfilling things at home. Like my sewing projects that still aren't done. That and I have to finish cleaning and organizing my room and pack before my trip to Cal. for my cousin's wedding.

Oh yeah, I don't think I've mentioned the trip to Cal in a while. I am leaving on Friday to head back to Ventura for my cousin's wedding on Nov 1. Then my parent's and I will be staying for about a week to do some fun vacationing and visiting some of my Dad's side of the family that we haven't seen in a while. So that will be fun. Originally Samantha was going to come with me, but she has decided to go and visit her family in South Carolina for the week instead, which I think is a good idea because I know she's been missing them lately. So yeah, that's what's been going on with that.

Theatre-wise I've been doing some set building/lights for Anne of Green Gables at Playcrafter's. I've also been a stand-in body for a couple of the actors who had to miss rehearsals. That was kinda fun. Acting with no real pressure. It was just neat to be at the rehearsal and see how the show is taking shape. It looks really good. Can't wait to see it with costumes and everything. So yeah, I'll probably help with a couple of the shows and I'll for sure be there for strike, so that's how I've been keeping theatre in my life for right now. I know auditions for shows for early next year are starting to come up at several of the theatres, so I might be telling you all that I'm in another show sometime soon. Who knows? Oh yeah...I've also been asked to do lights for The King and I at Music Guild next summer. So I for sure have that to look forward to. Plus I'll also be auditioning for them as well. Although I can't be in King and I since I'm doing lights, but maybe one of their other summer shows. So yeah all kinda of stuff coming up that I might be more inclined to post about.

I think that's all for now. Thanks for reading and feel free to comment!

My Last Day!!

As a temp that is. I faxed in my last time card as an Office Team employee! It was a very exciting moment that I didn't really get to celebrate except for a little cheer for myself. On Monday I clock in for the first time as a Radiology Group employee! It's very exciting for me.

So I've been training on scheduling all this week. And let me tell you it is exhausting. I don't know what it is about learning a new job that just takes it out of you. I think part of it is that I'm also still kinda doing the digitizing at the same time. Crazy stuff, I know. But I'm actually getting a lot of help from my Supervisor and all the techs to get that job done so that I can be over answering phones most of the day. So that's really cool. We're getting it all figured out.

Other than that things are pretty normal. Not too much happening. This weekend I'm going to be helping to hang lights and do some finishing building on the set for Anne of Green Gables, so that's exciting. Yep, that and sleeping so I'm all set to go for next week. So yeah. That's all!

Staying Put And Moving Up

So, the big news is that Sam and I have decided that the best thing to do for our finances and our sanity is to stay in our apartment for another year. We talked about this at length and are both very happy with the decision. The only thing left to do is break the news to Katie. Hopefully that will go ok. I feel bad backing out on her, but honestly at this point it is the best thing for all of us. It will give her time to get more secure in her own life and maybe next year we can rethink the whole moving to a house concept. But for now this is the best thing.

Ok, on to the other big news. I will be officially hired at Radiology Group as of Oct. 13. Yay! This is very exciting for me. I've been a temp with them since the end of May, so that's super exciting. The other part of that is that my job is changing. One of our schedulers is getting a job that better suits her lifestyle and needs. So they asked me if I would be interested in doing scheduling. I said, "Absolutely". So for the last week, (about), I've been trying to see how long the digitizing for each day will take as well as starting to learn the scheduling job. I got word today that I'm for sure going to be doing the scheduling, so that's exciting. However we're still attempting to figure out if they will need to hire another person for the digitizing. So for a while I might be doing both jobs. We'll see how this goes. But eventually I'll be scheduling full time. So that's cool.

Yeah, I think that's all for now. I hope all is well with everyone who reads this!

An Epiphany

So here I am sitting at work at the Courtyard and typing up a new blog. It's actually really nice to be back at the Courtyard. I haven't been here for a couple weeks, at least not on my regular shift. And it feels like forever. While I was doing "Promises, Promises" my manager was nice enough to let me have the nights off for the show. This was good because it allowed me to fully be a part of the whole production. What with the parties and mingling after the shows, I was able to get to know and hang out with the other cast members even more. So that was nice. But I never thought I would miss work. It was kinda nice to come back. Strange feeling for me.

I was talking to my Dad today about a couple of things and one thing I told him was very, very true. I'm happy with where I am in life right now. I like both of my jobs a lot. It's not a chore to go to work everyday. I enjoy it. I mean, I do have my moments where I wish I didn't need to work so much, but for the most part I really like going to work everyday. And I don't really want to not work. That's kind of a big thing for me. To be really happy with where I am in life. I mean obviously it would be nice if my finances were a little more secure, but other than that things are all good. I'm honestly and truly happy. It's a weird thing for me to feel.

So yeah. That's kinda all I wanted to say. Tomorrow, or rather later today I get to help build sets for "Anne of Green Gables", the next show at Playcrafter's. So that should be fun. It's nice to help out and be involved in shows in different ways. I'm glad that there is such an active theatre community here in the Quad Cities. I can't wait to get more involved in all of it. Well, little by little. Have a great day!

Quick Note

Just a quick note to say hello. I am mainly keeping busy with both my jobs. As I am now back to my normal schedule of work, work and more work. Although I did stop in at Starbucks yesterday and talked to Chris, the lead from "Promises, Promises". It was nice to say hello and get the chance to catch up a little with him. He's one of the supervising managers at the Starbucks just down the street from my job. It was neat to find that out while we were working on the show.

The other thing keeping me busy is attempting to find a new place to live. Sam and my lease is up October 31st. So we need to be out of our apartment by then. However we are both looking for new places to live on opposite sides of the river. She's going to be living with a friend of her's here in Illinois and I'm going to live with Katie in Iowa. So I'm kinda sad that we won't be living together anymore, but I think it is the best idea we could come up with so that everyone will be happy. Now I just have to find a two-bedroom house to live in, in Iowa. Wish me luck!

All Good Things...

Unfortunately today is the last show of "Promises, Promises". We have a matinee show at 3:00 and then we get to strike the set and afterwards we'll have a final cast party. Although I'm kinda sad about it, hopefully it won't be too long before I'm in another show. But for now I need to get some much needed rest and work on finding a new place to live as Samantha and my apartment lease is up on Nov. 1st. So hopefully we find a new place soon. Please keep our search in your prayers! Other than that life will back to normal working both jobs on my old crazy schedule. So that's all for now. I hope all is well with anyone who reads my blog!
